چکیده

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the effects different wavelengths LED lighting on postharvest quality tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. Zahide) during breaker harvest stages..
Material and Methods: Harvested tomato fruits were placed 500 g polystyrene foam dishes wrapped with stretch film. They then stored in 4±1ºC temperature 85-90% relative humidity for 42 days under red (R), blue (B), green (G) white (W) light conditions. dark used as control (C).
Results: R W treatments increased hue angle value, yellowness index fruit firmness Blue lighting, also decreased electrolyte leakage that indicates delaying senescence. It found delayed decay.
Conclusion: As a conclusion, it could be satated more effective than red, maintaining harvested at breaking stage.

The Effect of UV-C Irradiation on Rot Control and Postharvest Quality of Greenhouse Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum cv. Newton)

Tomato is one of the most important horticultural crops that is corruptible and susceptible to microbial contamination. In this study, the effect of UV-C at five different irradiation intensities (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 kJ/m2) on rot control and postharvest quality of greenhouse tomato was investigated. Tomato (cv. Newton) fruits were harvested from a commercial greenhouse at vine-ripe stage and aft...

Ripening improves the content of carotenoid, α-tocopherol, and polyunsaturated fatty acids in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) fruits

The tomato fruits during different stages of ripening have been extensively characterized for nutritionally important bioactives; however, changes in fatty acid composition are not available. Thus, in the present study, changes in fatty acid, along with carotenoid and α-tocopherol, were studied during the six stages of ripening. Fruits were harvested at the green, breaker, turning, pink, light ...

PhysicoChemical Parameters for Obtaining Prediction Models in the Postharvest Quality of Tomatoes (Solanum Lycopersicum L.)

This study aimed to determine physicochemical parameters for obtaining prediction equation in order to evaluate the postharvest quality of tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.). A imaging system was used to measure L*a*b* color space. In tomatoes (variety Caiman) were evaluated weight loss, oBrix, pH, titrable acidity, firmness and oHue over 17 days of storage. The experimental results demonstrate...

Molecular and biochemical characterization of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants cv. Micro-Tom under lead (Pb)-induced stress

Two different Pb concentrations (5 and 10 mg/kg of PbAc2) were used to study the response of Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. Micro-Tom (MT) plants in two vegetative growth phases. Two genes that have been previously reported to be heavy metal inducible genes (superoxide dismutase, SOD, EC 1.15.1.1; and isofl avone reductase, IFR; EC 1.6.4.2) and another one putatively interesting in this fi eld (tr...

Salinity induces carbohydrate accumulation and sugar-regulated starch biosynthetic genes in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. ‘Micro-Tom’) fruits in an ABA- and osmotic stress-independent manner

Salinity stress enhances sugar accumulation in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) fruits. To elucidate the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon, the transport of carbohydrates into tomato fruits and the regulation of starch synthesis during fruit development in tomato plants cv. 'Micro-Tom' exposed to high levels of salinity stress were examined. Growth with 160 mM NaCl doubled starch accumulation ...
